NaNoWriMo 2019

Well, after completing Inktober 2019, which I found both challenging (producing a drawing every day!) but useful (I developed several new drawings to illustrate my books), I also took on the NaNoWriMo challenge again this year (National Novel Writing Month). This is an international exercise that uses both social media and local organisation to create a mutual support group for writing towards a 50K word count goal over the month of November. Worldwide, more than a million people participate. Here in Quebec City, there is a local group, this year involving about 35 people, 16 of whom achieved the 50K word count goal (including me). In previous years, I worked on a new book project for NaNoWriMo. In 2017, I wrote Third Testament, and in 2018, I wrote Incarnations of Evil. This year, I didn't want to start a new project, so I worked instead on finishing the draft of The System of Time, which before November stood at about 15K words and now stands at 62K words. I also completed the missing chapter of Third Testament, and worked a little also on my children's story, Patou En Formation.

Now, during December, my focus is on returning to work on Messioph, and try to get the revisions of this novel finished, and also to finalize Third Testament (see image above). I have decided to self-publish the latter as an e-volume so as to better understand the process involved. The reason for choosing this volume, is that although the novel can be finalized, the Appendix cannot. One of the advantages of an electronic version of the text, is that it can be updated with little extra cost. Because the Appendix is evolving, I believe I can publish the text while announcing the updating of the Appendix, and therefore provide the opportunity for people to go back to the text as it changes. This will be manageable as a self-publication exercise, far more than for a publisher exercise.
